After an attack on a fuel company vehicle between Nova Zambézia and Nova Vida in Macomia district, northern Cabo Delgado, the price of gasoline has soared in Mueda, and the Êxito and Petromoc pumps there no longer have any.
Sources in Mueda told ‘Carta’ that, at the moment, a litre of gasoline has risen from 90 meticais to 150, and can cost as much as 200 meticais a litre from informal traders, as the pumps in the town have only oil and diesel for sale.
Sources added that the drivers of the fuel companies that supply the town refuse to travel to the region, allegedly for fear of an attack like that which occurred last week.
Meanwhile, convoys escorted by the FDS continue on the Macomia/Owasse road section to destinations such as Mueda, Nangade, Mocímboa da Praia and Palma.
