Mozambique: Chapo pledges loans for young entrepreneurs

The government has made 35 million meticais [US$548.331 at current exchange rates] available to support the revitalisation of economic activity, especially of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) negatively affected by the combined effects of terrorism, Covid 19 and floods.
Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane told parliament this morning that all efforts are being made to improve the performance of national companies and therefore of the country’s economy.
According to Maleiane, the country recorded economic growth of 2.16 percent in 2021, against a slowdown of 1.3 percent in 2020.
Average annual inflation in 2021 remained in single digits at 5.7%, below the 7.9% average for Sub-Saharan Africa.
