Three hundred terrorists, including adults, youth, and children, have recently surrendered to authorities in the Mocímboa da Praia district of Cabo Delgado.
The most recent case is that of a couple who turned themselves in to government authorities this weekend.
Mocímboa da Praia Administrator Sérgio Cipriano said that the couple is currently receiving health care.
“They left the area of Quiterajo, in Macomia district. The husband surrendered his weapon, ammunition and grenades, which are now with the police. The woman is pregnant, which is raising concerns because her feet were swollen, probably due to walking. They are currently under observation for us to see what we can do for them, and then we will call their family and hand them over. And they are leading a normal life,” Cipriano said.
