Mozambique’s national football team, the Mambas, embarked this Sunday for Cairo, Egypt, where they will begin preparations for next Thursday’s game against Uganda, in a fifth round Group G qualification match for the 2026 World Cup.
Players who play domestically, plus part of the technical committee and the heads of the delegation. will leave from Maputo to join the other players who play away from home.
Among those called up by Chiquinho Conde, the chief omission is captain Dominguês, who due to bureaucratic issues related to his visa will no longer travel to Cairo, as neither will Mexer Sitoe, who was not included in the call-up, supposedly due to injury. In place of Domingues, União Desportiva de Songo striker Melque was called up.
The Mambas will today begin preparations for two games, the first on Thursday against Uganda and the second on the 25th of this month against Algeria in Algiers.
