Fifteen young men have been arrested by police in Pemba, the capital of Cabo Delgado, on suspicion of links to terrorism, Notícias online reports.
The young people were surprised at a residence in Pemba city’s Cariaco neighbourhood, where they were allegedly studying the Koran, adds the same source.
Notícias reports that, “in their possession, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) found military uniforms, copies of the Koran, and other objects which indicate a connection with the terrorists”.
Jovens detidos por suspeita de ligação com terroristas
Quinze jovens acabam de ser detidos pela PRM, em Pemba, capital de Cabo Delgado, por suspeita de ligação com o terrorismo.
Os jovens foram surpreendidos numa residência no bairro de Cariaco, em Pemba, onde alegadamente encontravam-se num processo de aprendizagem do alcorão.
Na sua posse, a PRM encontrou fardamento militar, livros de Alcorão, entre outros objectos que indiciam ligação com os terroristas.
