Graça Machel advocates greater participation of Mozambican women in clean energy

The Mozambican authorities have a further six mining companies for pollution, bringing to 11 the number of companies penalized for environmental crimes in the central province of Manica.
According to Grácio Cune, National Mining Inspector, cited by the Portuguese News Agency (Lusa) on Tuesday, “we did what was required by law”. President Daniel Chapo had already announced in May the suspension of the activities of five mining companies in Manica for environmental crimes and pollution, he said, and later investigations brought the number up to 11. However, he did not give more details about the fines.
Cune explained that mining in the Révuè basin has been suspended and most of the 11 companies are currently “with their activities paralyzed”
“During this visit, we also found that this activity continues to have a significant impact on the waters of the Chicamba reservoir. The water remains very cloudy and, from the bridge over the Révuè River, it reaches the dam almost muddy”, he said.
