Mozambican short-film 'Vandals' premieres in Maputo with two sold-out sessions

The Mozambican actress of Companhia Mutumbela Gogo, Graça Silva, died at dawn on Sunday.
Information not yet confirmed indicates that Graça Silva died of stroke.
Graça Silva was one of the most acclaimed figures of the Mozambican theatre and cinema with a long career of more than thirty years.
In addition to the talent she showed on stage, Graça Silva was an actvist and a defender of art as one of the pillars of society. She argued that the artists should be the messengers of the people, who can not go on stage to express their concerns and feelings.
Graça was a founding member of Mutumbela Gogo when she was 20 years old and kept working in a group that during its 30 years of existence produced more than 100 theatrical pieces among them: I Eduardo Dreamed the earth [Eu Eduardo Sonhei a Terra], Nine o’clock [Nove hora], Drop of Dew [Gota de Orvalho], Nobody’s Children, [Meninos de ninguém], Hamlet, The Doll’s House, Come Love [Amor Vem]; among others .
She was the protagonist of campaigns for civic education, health and safety at work, participated in theatrical movements against corruption, lent her talent to national cinema and her voice to radio theater.
Her performances as an actress were well-known in and outside the country, with participation in theatrical festivals in Sweden, Italy, Portugal, France, Norway, the Indian Ocean islands, Brazil.
“Graça Silva, mana Graça, Gracinha, died physically but her work will be eternal”, read in the communiqué of the Mutumbela Gogo Theater Group sent to Folha de Maputo.
