In the framework of PROCULTURA PALOP-TL, eight representatives of projects in the PALOP and Timor-Leste music sector will participate at WOMEX Worldwide Music Expo 2022, which takes place in Lisbon from 19 to 23 October.
The projects supported in Mozambique which will participate in Womex include Mozambican dancer, choreographer and musician Pak Ndjamena representing the Festival Raiz, of which he is director; the IVERCA association and other partner entities; and Paola Prandini, Brazilian researcher and consultant, Communication Director of the Resistance and Cultural Affirmation project, representing the Scala Cultural Association and partners.
Paulo Chibanga, representing the Marimba project’s Mozambican partner, will also participate, as also will Stewart Sukuma, the project’s ambassador, who will perform in a small concert with guest artist Isabel Novella, a Mozambican singer of international renown.
Participating in WOMEX is a unique opportunity to meet international producers and artists, agencies, festivals and media, but above all, to present the results and goals of their projects, as well as to promote the musical richness of their countries.

PROCULTURA PALOP-TL is a project of the Multi-Annual Indicative Programme PALOP – Timor-Leste and European Union, funded by the European Union, co-funded and managed by Camões, I.P. and co-funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. It aims to contribute to job creation in income generating activities in the cultural and creative economy of PALOP and Timor-Leste.
