Mozambican business man Salimo Abdula was re-elected president of the Business Confederation of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CE-CPLP) by consensus at a CPLP general assembly held in the city of Praia, Cape Verde, last Tuesday.
The entrepreneur will serve four more years (2018-2022) at the helm of the CE-CPLP, as a result of the good performance achieved in the promotion of business relations between entities of the Lusophone member countries and the penetration of CPLP businesspeople in the global market over the last four years.
Salimo Abdula has extensive experience in business associations, having led the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) for two terms, succeeding in attracting foreign investment to Mozambique and building partnerships between Mozambican and businesspeople and their counterparts abroad.
As Cape Verde takes over the presidency of the nine Portuguese-speaking countries CPLP, Jorge Spencer Lima, president of the Cape Verde Chamber of Commerce, assumed the honorary presidency responsible for discussing political issues related to business with the Cape Verdean government.
In addition to the election, the meeting also discussed the establishment of the EC-CPLP Economic and Social Council.
Cape Verde’s President Jorge Carlos Fonseca honoured the inauguration ceremony with his presence, congratulating Salimo Abdula for his re-election extending his good wishes to the team taking office.
Meanwhile, Mozambique’s CTA took over the vice-presidency of the Executive Committee of the EC-CPLP, and the Mozambique-Portugal Chamber of Commerce the vice-presidency of the Board of the General Assembly, giving Mozambique a stronger than ever presence in the organisation.
