Pope Leo calls for peace in Mozambique's Cabo Delgado - Watch

Far from showing any solidarity with Mozambicans fleeing from terrorist attacks in Cabo Delgado province, the Tanzanian authorities are simply piling them onto trucks and sending them back.
According to a report in Friday’s issue of the independent newssheet “Mediafax”, Mozambicans who make it across the Rovuma river into Tanzania receive no support. They are screened, and then sent back across the border, often on board large trucks and trailers, exposed to the rain that has been falling torrentially in southern Tanzania.
The Mozambicans, displaced by terrorist raids from their homes in Palma district, are taken to the border at Negomano, in Mueda district. There the only people who receive them are soldiers, checking to see whether any terrorists have infiltrated the returning refugees.
At the border, says “Mediafax”, there is no system in place to transport the returnees to Mueda town or anywhere else. Instead, each of them is expected to make their own way to safety.
“Mediafax” adds that there is no sign of Mozambican diplomats accompanying what is happening on the border, and how the refugees are being summarily repatriated.
