Fish producers in Namuno, Cabo Delgado, northern Mozambique, aim to farm about 6 tons of tilapia per season in fish ponds.
Provincial Director of the Sea, Fisheries and Inland Waters, Cassamo Junior says that, at present, the most important requirement is technical assistance for the fish producers.
Namumo’s ‘Associação Mãos Dadas’ has four new tanks in place and is planning to build four more and to expand to other places in the province.
The Governor of Cabo Delgado, Celmira da Silva, has been to Namuno district to visit the facilities.
The government says that two new water parks, in a total of 40 tanks of 500 square metres each, will be built in Balama and Mueda districts this year.
