President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique has dismissed Deputy Minister of State Administration Albano Macie in order to allow him to take office as Judge Counsellor to the Constitutional Council, the Presidency announced yesterday.
The Presidency communique announced the head of state’s decision without explicitly stating the reasons for the dismissal, but Albano Macie was elected last week as the Constitutional Council’s Judge Counsellor by parliament.
The President has not yet appointed Albano Macie’s replacement.
A lawyer and university lecturer, Albano Macie was proposed as a judge counsellor by the ruling party, the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo).
