Mozambique police seized 40 kilos of cannabis on Saturday and arrested two suspected drug traffickers, the PRM has announced.
Sofala police spokesman Daniel Macuácua said that patrolling policemen had approached two suspects, aged 25 and 42, while they were unloading sacks from a truck into a residence in the Massamba neighbourhood.
The youngest of the detainees is a repeat drug trafficking offender who was awaiting trial on bail. He told the police that he had received the delivery from a driver from Malawi and was unaware of its nature, while the other suspect said he was only helping his friend.
Both are listed by police as previously being detained for possession of 30 kilograms of cannabis and 10 kilograms of heroin and for selling narcotics to teenagers and young people in the immediate vicinity of educational establishments.
