Mozambique Elections: Father Couto suggests meeting between the four presidential candidates ...
Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosario on Friday swore into office the General Commissioner for the Mozambican display at Expo-2020 in Dubai, Augusto Kuntuela, and his deputy, Gilberto Cossa.
Rosario told the two officials that their task is to make Mozambique’s image shine in what is regarded as the largest exhibition on the planet. The six month event will be held under the theme “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future”.
The Prime Minister demanded from Kuntuela and Cossa a plan and a calendar for ensuring the visibility of the Mozambican pavilion at the event. He also called for coordinated teamwork, as well as for rigorous and responsible management of the financial and material resources made available by the government.
“Only in this way can you successfully exercise the duties that have been entrusted to you, and ensure the promotion of the good image of Mozambique in Expo-2020”, Rosario declared.
The mission of the General Commissioner and his team, said the Prime Minister, is to attract investment and the transfer of technologies for agriculture, infrastructures and energy – areas in which Mozambique possesses comparative advantages.
“Considering the potential of our country, our participation in this type of event, where all the countries of the world converge, should constitute a great opportunity to divulge the good image of Mozambique”, he stressed. It was also an opportunity for Mozambique to publicise its cultural and tourist mosaic.
After the ceremony, Kuntuela told reporters he would carry out the recommendations given by the Prime Minister.
He did not yet have an agenda for his work, “because we still have to sit down and define what are the areas that we should take to the Expo”.
Expo-2020 will open in Dubai in October 2020 and will end on 10 April 2021. It is expected to attract 30 million people.
