The Association of Micro-Importers of Mozambique is again complaining that its members are being robbed near the Lebombo border with South Africa.
The association says it is desperate over the wave of robberies in the neighbouring country, which it says is jeopardising its activity.
The president of the association, Sudecar Novela, told Radio Mozambique that members only continue to travel to South Africa for lack of alternatives.
He recounted the experience of one associate, who lost her life after being robbed and assaulted.
Novela has appealed to his members to adopt precautionary measures, and is encouraging the Mozambican government to continue to pressure the South African authorities to bring the situation under control.
Repeated attacks near the border of Lebombo and in the city of Mbombela (Nelspruit) have already caused the Mozambican consulate in Nelspruit to advise Mozambicans not to travel to South Africa unless it is absolutely necessary.
