Mozambique: Remittance inflows see six-fold rise in seven years

The Mozambican currency remained stable against the Euro in the last week, maintaining a recovery trend, according to central bank average exchange rates compiled by Lusa.
The week was shorter due to the municipal holiday in the capital, Maputo, on Friday.
In average terms, last week, the Euro was bought in the country at 69.93 meticais, 16 metical cents less than the average of the previous week.
In turn, the sale was made at 71.26 meticais for each Euro, a transaction 16 metical cents cheaper, according to weekly averages calculated by Lusa from Bank of Mozambique data.
The average purchase price of the Euro last week ranged between 69.96 and 70.02 meticais, while the asking price ranged between 71.16 and 71.35 meticais.
The Mozambican currency lost a few cents against the US dollar (which serves as the basis for calculating the remaining currencies) with buying averages at 60.88 and selling at 61.45.
