A Mozambican citizen was lynched in Malawi on Thursday for allegedly belonging to an armed gang involved in robberies.
The lynching took place in Mulanje district, in the south of Malawi, which borders Milange district in Mozambique’s Zambézia province.
The man was found, in the company of a colleague now at large, in possession of an AKM-type firearm, which circumstance reportedly precipitated the assault.
The mortal remains of the murdered man have already been repatriated for burial.
The Malawian police have yet to comment on the case, but Radio Moçambique has established that two citizens are being detained in connection with the ongoing case.
This is the third killing of a Mozambican citizen in Malawi in less than two years. The first two were accused of spreading Covid-19 in Karonga district, and brutally murdered.
