Five young Mozambicans leave for China today to improve their kung fu technique and exchange experiences with professional practitioners of the Asian martial art.
Calisto Matsimbe, Mohamed Aghas, Artur Ernesto, Dinis António and Momed Dirfah bade farewell yesterday in a ceremony at the headquarters of the Chinese Community of Mozambique (CCM) attended by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alberto Nkutumula.
Maputo’s Wushu Association, which organizes demonstrations of the sport, was founded two years ago and now has about 200 members. The minister praised the association’s initiative in sending the young Mozambicans to China to perfect their art and contribute to its growth in Mozambique.
He appealed to the five to set a good for Mozambique example in China, adding that the government was doing its part for sport and would continue to support the association.
“Always remember that in China, you will be representing Mozambique with all eyes upon you. Have discipline and ethics!” the minister urged.
The five will stay in China for a month.
