Mozambican Anifo Amade was kidnapped in broad daylight last Friday (July 12) by three unidentified individuals in Bedford Gardens, in Bedfordview, east of Johannesburg CBD, the Correio da Manhã reported on Wednesday.
The whereabouts of the victim and his attackers are unknown.
A member of Amade’s family told the Correio da Manhã in Johannesburg that the abduction took place around 3:00 p.m. as Anifo and his brother were coming from their mother’s house after lunch.
Amade is well-known within the Mozambican community in South Africa, where he has been living for more than 20 years.

The family has not received any information on Anifo’s whereabouts or any claim for ransom since his abduction.
Anifo’s son declined to talk to journalists about the case so as not to jeopardise efforts to bring him back safely, as did another member of the victim’s family.
Amade is a native of Búzi, Sofala province, central Mozambique.
Like Mozambique, South Africa also experiences the sporadic kidnapping of persons thought to be wealthy, namely in communities of Asian origin, the abductors usually demanding large ransoms to set their hostages free.
