The National Judo Team will be participating in the International Tournament of the modality that started today in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
The Mozambican team consists of 18 judokas, in each of the cadets of the juniors and seniors categories, with a highlight of Ayton Siquir, Kevin Loforte, Jacira Ferreira, Artur Júnior, Yanick Martins and Carlitos Fondo.
The competition ends on Saturday, and the Vice President of the Mozambican Judo Federation (FMJ) for the high competition area, Nilton Mujovo, has high hopes that our athletes will bring home more medals.
According to the FMJ leader, the goal of this participation is to reaffirm Mozambique’s position as a judo power in the region, to provide and to obtain the physical and technical levels that the athletes need for the upcoming competitions.
The national Judo team will compete in the World Championships, which will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 18 to 27 September. The presence of our team in this “International Tournament” will also add competitiveness and confidence to the team in preparation for the upcoming important world champions´ event.
