The Mozambican government will employ 6,213 teachers for the primary and secondary education sectors during the 2019 school year, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH) has said.
“We are boosting the first grade, because that’s where the bulk of the students are, the approximately six thousand teachers are expected to serve more than a million and a half children we have all over the country,” said MINEDH spokeswoman Samarina Tovela.
Tovela says that primary education will employ 6,060 teachers and secondary education 153. The government would use overtime to respond to the deficit of teachers in secondary education, Tovela added.
The school year in Mozambique starts on 1st February.
