The Mozambican government will answer questions on crime and corruption in the country from the country’s three parliamentary parties today.
Although the president is head of the government in Mozambique, it is the prime minister who heads the executive in interaction with the Assembly of the Republic, by appointment of the head of state.
For parliamentary questions, the prime minister is accompanied by the ministers who answer to questions relating to their respective portfolios.
The Office of Communication of the Assembly of the Republic told Lusa that Frelimo, the ruling party, wants to know from the executive what has been discovered in relation to the group that carried out attacks at the beginning of the month in Mocímboa da Praia, Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique.
The Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo), the main opposition party, wants the executive to explain ongoing efforts in the fight against corruption, while the Mozambican Democratic Movement (MDM), the country’s third-largest political force, intends to quiz the government on the high level of criminality in the country.
