Mozambican government and bakers to decide new prices of bread this week

The government and bakers is to make a decision on whether the price of bread is to increase or not soon.
“The government is concerned about the price of bread, and has been working with all stakeholders, including the Mozambican Association of Bakers and wheat importers, on the matter. The latest meetings took place last Friday and is expected that the outcome will be announced this week,” said Minister of Industry and Trade, Max Tonela.
Warnings about a possible increase in the price of bread have circulated recently, justified by the increase in production costs and the depreciation of the metical against the dollar making imported raw materials more expensive.
