The President of the CPLP Business Confederation, Mozambican entrepreneur Salimo Abdula, is participating in the first CPLP Global Economic Forum in Dili, East Timor.
The forum, which takes place 25-27 of February in Dili, East Timor, will have 14 Mozambique representatives showcasing the country’s potential and will feature more than 100 companies and delegates from Portuguese-speaking and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) countries.
According to Abdula. the purpose of this meeting, and the two CPLP Exporters Union forums in Portugal, is to align strategies in order to bolster the private sector.
“Our goal is to prepare our people, so before going to another country, we try to learn about that country’s business model,” Abdula says.
The forum promotes products, services and businesses, as well as facilitating business-to-business contacts and presentations on the business environment investment opportunities in the participating countries. An international panel will discuss economic integration between CPLP and ASEAN countries.
Each country will have a display space where visitors will have the opportunity to get to know the country’s business environment.
Agriculture, construction and public works, education, energy, manufacturing, health, information technology, telecommunications, transport and tourism are some of the sectors that will be presented.
One of the main initiatives of the current East Timor CPLP presidency, the event is supported by the CPLP, the EC – CPLP and the CPLP Exporters Union.
Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, East Timor and Equatorial Guinea are members of CPLP. Mauritius, Senegal, Georgia, Japan, Namibia and Turkey are currently associate members of CPLP.
