Mozambique: Negotiations on debt-for-climate swaps are underway

The Mozambican currency again appreciated against the Euro last week, according to the central bank’s daily average exchange rates, followed by Lusa.
The currency has recovered about 6.5 meticais against the Euro since April.
In average terms, in the last week, the Euro was bought in the country at 69.19 meticais, 69 metical cents less than the previous week. Sale was made at an average of 70.54 meticais per Euro, 70 metical cents less.
The average purchase price of the Euro in commercial banks ranged between 68.86 and 69.38 meticais, while the asking price ranged between 70.21 and 70.74 meticais.
The Mozambican currency registered a slight appreciation against the US dollar in the last week. The US currency is the currency which is used as the calculation basis for the exchange rates of other currencies in Mozambique.
Over the last week, the US dollar was bought for an average of 59.44 meticais, 11 metical cents less than the previous week. Sale was made at an average of 60.60 meticais per dollar, 10 metical cents less.
The daily average of the purchase price of the US dollar varied between 59.32 and 59.53 meticais, while the sale price ranged between 60.46 and 60.70 meticais.
