Mozambique: CAF again bans Zimpeto National Stadium

A group of Mozambican companies is coming together to support the participation of Mozambique’s national football team – the “Mambas” – in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON or CAN 2023) which takes place in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
The companies that make up this group are the National Investment Bank (BNI), Ports and Railways of Mozambique (CFM), Construções Karina, Cornelder de Moçambique (CdM), Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), EMOSE, Grindrod, Hidroelectrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), Manica Freight Services, Mota-Engil, Petromoc and the Maputo Port Development Society (MPDC).
These companies, leaders in their sectors, recognize the fundamental role of sport as a catalyst for the development and internationalisation of Mozambique in the social, economic and cultural spheres.
Demonstrating a firm commitment to their social responsibility, the companies are united in supporting the Mambas, channelling resources through the Sports Promotion Fund. The support fund will serve, among other purposes, to cover expenses associated with the team’s operation, equipment and accommodation, food and transport costs during the championship in the Côte d’Ivoire.
By contributing to the Mambas’ participation in CAN 2023, these companies highlight the conviction that this initiative will not only enhance national sport, but will also serve as a vehicle to elevate Mozambique’s name to international levels, promoting a collective feeling of national pride.
By joining forces, BNI, CFM, Construções Karina, Cornelder de Moçambique, EDM-Electricidade de Moçambique, EMOSE, Grindrod, HCB, Hidroelectrica de Cabora Bassa, Manica Freight Services, Mota-Engil, Maputo Port Development Company MPDC and Petromoc reinforce their commitment to the integral development of Mozambique, using sport as a tool for cohesion and positive projection at an international level.
This collective support highlights the importance of collaboration between sectors and companies to drive sporting initiatives of great national significance, demonstrating that, when we join forces, we can achieve remarkable achievements.
