A Mozambican business delegation is going to Italy in July for meetings in the oil and gas and agro-industry sectors, among others, the Confederation of Mozambican Economic Associations (CTA) has announced.
The visit, from 10 to 13 July, includes a two-day Mozambique-Italy Business Forum in Rome, with working visits to enterprises in Milan scheduled for 12 and 13 July, the program released by the CTA details.
The visit is being prepared jointly by the CTA and the Mozambique-Italy Chamber of Commerce (CCMI).
In addition to the oil, gas and agro-industry sectors, energy, tourism, construction, finance, transportation and logistics will be in focus.
The visit comes after the consortium led by Italian oil company Eni announced in Maputo on 1 June the start of the development phase of the Coral South project to produce liquid natural gas in northern Mozambique.
Natural gas is expected to start being exported in 2022, in what will be the first of several developments in the Rovuma Basin.
The Eni-led consortium is expected to invest around US$8 billion in the project.
