The Mozambican ambassador to South Africa, Maria Manuela Lucas, is this weekend paying a working visit to the province of KwaZulu-Natal.
Maria Manuela Lucas has scheduled meetings with local authorities, businesspeople and the Mozambican community based there.
Ambassador Lucas will also participate in the opening of a ‘Tourism Indaba’ being held in Durban Exhibition Centre. This, the largest tourism fair on the African continent, starts on Monday.
Maria Manuela Lucas’s visit to KwaZulu-Natal takes place at a time when insecurity persists for people travelling on the Maputo-Durban route.

At the beginning of the year, there were attacks on vehicles with Mozambican registration plates, which resulted in a meeting between the Mozambican Minister of the Interior and the South African Minister of Police.
Maria Manuel Lucas will herself address the issue of insecurity and the persistent problem of the lack of identification documents.
At the end of April, Ambassador Maria Manuela Lucas paid working visits to South Africa’s Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces.
