The Kulungwana Association has gone into partnership with MOZAL to fill a perceived absence and created the MOZAL Art and Culture Awards, whose first edition will take place this year.
The MOZAL Arts and Culture Awards will cover six different modalities – Fine Arts, Cinema and Audiovisual, Dance, Photography, Music and Theatre – and aims to encourage and promote new creators, reinforcing support for new creations and promotion of the values of contemporary art, focusing on Mozambican artists residing in Mozambique or abroad who have excelled in the exercise of their activity.
The MOZAL Arts and Culture Awards will be awarded to young Mozambican artists who have been the protagonists of a particularly relevant and innovative intervention in the artistic life of the country, paying particular attention to the rigour and originality of their work during the twelve months prior to the awards.
The launch of the MOZAL Arts and Culture Awards was held on April 18 in Maputo Fortress and was attended by representatives of the government, the City Council of Maputo City, MOZAL and the Kulungwana Association, representatives of cultural institutions, creators and art lovers.
