Motivel has restored communications in Matacuane, Maquinino, Manga, Esturro and Aeroporto in the city of Beira, but fibre-optic service there remains suspended.

Movitel’s communications director, Hélder Cassimo, said that almost 90% of the optical fibre network in the centre of the country had sustained damaged and explained that Movitel could not say when communications would be fully functional again because the damage caused by Cyclone Idai remained to be evaluated.
Furthermore, the company has made 20,000 SIM cards with 20 meticais of airtime available to help residents of the Sofala provincial capital restore communications.

In the province of Manica, the districts of Mossurize, Sussudenga and the city of Manica still do not have data or voice services.
In Zambézia and Tete, communications have also been restored, despite flaws in some Chinde neighbourhoods on Monday.
Mozambique Telecom (Tmcel) reports that it re-established landline communications throughout the province of Tete and the city of Beira on Monday. Spokeswoman Márcia Fenita said that Tmcel’s main concern was now to repair damaged infrastructure and restore full service.
