After being recognized by UNESCO as one of the best education platforms for girls and women, Girl MOVE Academy launches MOVHERS: a free 4 month digital program for girls between 20-30 years old that are already changing the world but want to amplify their local impact to a global scale. This program will connect these young changemakers with inspiring world leaders to co-create powerful solutions designed to solve global challenges. Applications close 18th May.

The context
MOVHERS is a program powered by Girl MOVE Academy that will connect tomorrow’s changemakers with today’s leaders. Although the first edition will kick-off in June of 2022 all of this started during the pandemic, back in 2020 when Girl MOVE Academy had to reinvent its programs and take advantage of the lockdown. When the international internships for the Mozambican Girls were canceled an idea came up: to challenge world leaders to join them on quick 30’ calls.
And guess what? More than 100 (artists, activists, scientists, politicians) actually accepted and are now part of a bigger community, with a bigger purpose… leaders like António Guterres, Kristalina Georgieva, Graça Machel, Vandana Shiva, Durão Barroso, Cherry Blair and many others, have already joined this global movement for good.
In these calls, a common insight and urgency came up: Humankind needs a new model of mentorship that joins experience with disruptive and fresh ideas in order to redesign the planet’s future. A future where female leadership influences global transformation at every level. From climate action, to peace and human rights, through to all areas reflected in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
HOW does MOVHERS program work?
The MOVHERS program has a global mindset. That’s why one of the main goals of it is to amplify the local impact of these young changemakers, making it global, while empowering them with the tools to uplift their leadership skills.
This journey is composed of 3 moments, each one with its specific goals. The goal for the first moment is to build a Global Sisterhood, where these girls will join a brave-safe space of mutual sharing, learning and inspiration.
During the second moment they will connect with Global Leaders and Experts to collaboratively create solutions to address world challenges framed by the 2030 Agenda.
At the last moment they will have the opportunity to present their ideas to a Global Audience, in the world’s best stages (such as COP27) where they can raise their voices and share their stories and solutions.
For WHOM?
MOVHERS program is for young women changemakers from all over the world, aged between 20-30 years old, with a university degree (or attending), actively engaged in a cause and with a strong leadership drive.
MOVHERS program includes a training certificate from one of the most prestigious universities in the World – CATÓLICA LISBON School.
Applications are open until May 18th and the program will start in the middle of June.

In 2021, Girl MOVE was distinguished by its innovative and effective methodology promoting education and female leadership in Mozambique, having won the UNESCO Prize for Girls’ and Women’s Education. Over the last seven years, the Academy has impacted +10,000 young women, activating them as changemakers and role models for new generations. With its action in Mozambique, these young women contributed to increasing the school transition rate in the north of the country from 20% to 90% and decreasing child maternity levels from 45% to 2%.
