To March of this year, more than 56,000 travellers from 29 countries had benefited from the electronic visa for tourism and business purposes since the implementation of Measure 13 of the Economic Acceleration Package (PAE) in December, 2022.
This measure allows visa exemptions for citizens of 29 countries and the granting of permission to enter the national territory for foreign investors for longer periods, aiming to make their visits more flexible, adding value to the Mozambique brand and making the country more competitive as a tourist destination.
The PAE measures revolve around two main vectors: a fiscal and economic stimulus package, and measures to improve the business environment in terms of governance and transparency.
According to the most recent balance, to which ‘Notícias’ has had access, during the period in which the measure was in force, approved foreign investment registered an increase of 30%, rising to an estimated value of US$16,755,188.
At the top of the list of countries that benefited from electronic visas are India, Pakistan and Brazil. Other nations benefiting from visa exemptions are Portugal, China and the United States of America (USA).
Taking into account indicators on the evolution of tourist movement, it is now proposed to expand the countries covered by visa exemption, in order to invest in new segments and improve the attractiveness of the destination, as well as easing the mobility of both tourists and visitors who intend to visit the country for business purposes.
