Mozambique: IMOPETRO guarantees that there is fuel for 22 days

The project Mozambique LNG, led by Anadarko, currently employs more than 4,700 Mozambicans directly and through its contracted companies, representing 94% of its workforce. The majority of these workers are based at the Project site, on the Afungi Peninsula, or in the company’s corporate office in Maputo. Local workers are engaged at all levels of the project, in a wide range of role, including in the construction of the resettlement village, airstrip, and expansion of the workers’ camp.
Steve Wilson, Anadarko´s Vice President and Country Manager in Mozambique, said: “Recruitment and training of Mozambican labour is one of the foundations of our local content policy. Our workforce and training plans deliver jobs and skills which will be transferable to other projects in the future.”
Steve Wilson added that “Local procurement of Mozambican goods and services is also another pillar of our local content policy, as it is not only a substitute for high-cost imports, but can also be an important catalyst to facilitate job creation for the Mozambicans and for the country’s economic growth “.
The Mozambique LNG project will be Mozambique’s first onshore LNG development, initially consisting of two LNG trains with total nameplate capacity of 12.88 MTPA to support the development of the Golfinho/Atum fields, located entirely within Offshore Area 1.
Anadarko Moçambique Área 1, Lda, a wholly owned subsidiary of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, operates Offshore Area 1 with a 26.5-percent working interest. Co-venturers include ENH Rovuma Área Um, S.A. (15 percent), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area1 Ltd. (20percent), ONGC Videsh Ltd. (10 percent), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (10 percent), BPRL Ventures Mozambique B.V. (10 percent), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Limited (8.5 percent).
