Over 400 Mozambique Electricity customers (EDM) are to be taken to court on charges of stealing electricity in Chókwè, Gaza province.
Inspection brigades estimate electricity to the value of more than eight million meticais (around US$128,897 at current exchange rates) has been stolen, Chókwè EDM delegate Ferdinando Mugabar told Radio Mozambique on Tuesday (8 June).
Mugabar said that the theft of energy and electrical equipment undermines projects to improve and expand the network.
