Mozambique President, Mr Filipe Jacinto Nyusi has commended SADC for having played a big role in promoting peace and security in the region.
Speaking during his visit at the SADC headquarters on April 26, Mr Nyusi thanked President Lt General Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama for a warm welcome to Botswana, adding that Botswana and Mozambique shared a rich history.
He highlighted that he visited Botswana to reinforce the friendship between the two states, more so that President Khama had visited him in 2016.

He indicated that during his three-day visit to Botswana, his delegation visited the mining sector to appreciate how diamonds are processed after extraction, where they gathered a lot of information on that.
The visiting President said it was important to disseminate information on the affairs of Mozambique, stating that their political domain was stable as a result of democracy, which was growing at an alarming rate.
“Calmness is prevailing in Mozambique and we are glad, our citizens were fearful that there will be war, but I asked them to be calm,” he said.
He highlighted that due to the heavy rains spreading across the country, agriculture had improved, hence they were expecting food security this year.
President Nyusi congratulated Botswana for implementing the SADC policies, adding that Mozambique stood committed to work and learn from other SADC member states.
