Containerised units supplied by TotalEnergies are being assembled in the municipal town of Mocímboa da Praia and will be used to accommodate state administration services while infrastructure destroyed by the terrorists is rebuilt.
The Permanent District Secretary (SP), João Saraiva, told visiting Governor of Cabo Delgado Valige Tauabo on Saturday that all public institutions are already operating, although in less-than-ideal conditions.
According to Saraiva, the project is being undertaken by the district government with the aim of re-booting public services in anticipation of the population returning to the region.
In addition to Mocímboa da Praia, Governor Tauabo also visited Quissanga and Muidumbe.
At Bilibiza administrative post, Quissanga district, Tauabo urged returnees to maintain their vigilance in the villages, so as to neutralise people of dubious intent.
“When you receive visitors, before accommodating people, you must introduce them to the authorities,” Tauabo reminded them.
The population has asked for the reactivation of basic social services, as well as for agricultural inputs, food aid and sports equipment.
