The Mozambican Football League’s sixth round of matches has been postponed due to “constraints” in team air transport, the Mozambican Football League (LMF) announced this Thursday, requesting solutions from the state-owned airline, LAM.
“Due to the issues related to air transportation that have been challenging and restrictive for the LMF at this stage in ensuring the clubs’ air travel to play their matches, the LMF announces the postponement of the sixth round matches,” reads a statement from the institution.
According to the LMF, despite the postponement of the round, the match between Baia de Pemba and Ferroviário de Nampula will be played this weekend, as neither team requires air travel.
The LMF says efforts are currently underway to resolve the issue, primarily with the state-owned Mozambique Airlines (LAM), a company that is undergoing restructuring and attempting to source new aircraft while facing logistical challenges with its own limited operational aircraft.
The start of the 2025 Mozambique Championship, initially scheduled for March 26, was postponed to May 17 due to logistical and economic issues, the LMF announced at the time.

This postponement, compared to the initial schedule, was primarily due to air transport issues, but also economic issues related to the current “context” in Mozambique, following a turbulent electoral process and intense social unrest in the streets over the past five months.
