Mozambique to accept digital signatures on official documents
The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MITESS) has suspended the right to work in the country of six Portuguese nationals on the grounds that their contractual processes do not comply with labour legislation in force in Mozambique.
A statement from MITESS says the action steps have been taken after an inspection carried out by the Central Services of General Labour Inspection in one of the agencies of Moza Banco.
The note explains that the hiring of the foreign citizens violated decree 37/2006 of August 31, which regulates the hiring of citizens of foreign nationality, and did not follow the rules of article 8 (1) and articles 5 and 6 of the legislation, namely that an employer “may have foreign nationals at its service by informing the Minister who oversees the area of work or the entities to which he delegates within fifteen days from the date of their entry into Mozambique”.
“The employer, or his representative, prior to the entry of the foreign citizen into the national territory must send to the entity that supervises the area of work in the province where the foreign citizen is going to perform his activity a duplicate communication, a communication containing information about the denomination and address of the requesting entity, identification of the employee and his/her function and indication of the start and end of the activity,” the MITESS statement reads.
The employees were working at Moza Banco S.A, located at Rua dos Deportes, No. 88, JAT Building, in the City of Maputo.
