Inspection activities by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (MITESS), through the Provincial Delegation of the General Inspectorate of Labour of Sofala, found that 8 of 88 foreign nationals had been illegally admitted among the total of 2,917 workers in the 113 companies supervised.
The inspection team suspended the activities of seven companies, namely ANF-Constructions, Rivas Madeira, CAM Constructions, News Pid, Ser Moz, Shong Xiong Madeira and SunLine, because the facilities where they operated presented an imminent danger to the life, health or safety of workers, failing to provide their workers with protection against accidents at work and occupational diseases, a statement from the institution records.
The inspection, however, also revealed some companies conspicuous for their compliance with the country’s labour laws, such as TG Pescas Lda, PG Marine Lda, Carnes da Beira, TM Turismos Hotel Industry, Perfect Plastics, Petroda Moçambique, SO Protection , Cimentos da Beira, Transportes Carlos Mesquita and Unicar, which were maintaining the highest standards in working conditions and protection for their employees.
