Mozambique: Petromoc's profits tank 90% in 2024

The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy [MIREME] has suspended the activities of a stone and sand extraction extraction company operating in Maputo province’s Namaacha district.
The company, based in the town of Mafuiane, was operating illegally and had repeatedly failed to pay taxes owing on its activities.
The inspector general of the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy, Obed Matine, explained the suspension of the firm’s activities as part of an ongoing campaign aimed at combating the illegal extraction of construction material.
In addition to fines being imposed, eight trucks engaged in the firm’s illegal activity were also seized, Matine revealed.
