Minister of Transport and Communications Carlos Mesquita has suggested that Metrobus extend its schedule right through the day, and not only in the morning and late afternoon rush hours, as now happens.
Carlos Mesquita was speaking on Monday morning after a trip on Metrobus. The minister left from Machava train station and alighted at the downtown station, where he took a bus to OMM Square.
Mesquita said that the trip was aimed at monitoring the operation of the service and talking to passengers.
Metrobus director Amade Camel acknowledged the need for the service to offer more trips during the course of the day, but said that the realisation of this aspiration did not depend on the company alone.
At the moment, the company was talking to Mozambique Railways (CFM) with a view to them providing the line.
Camal also revealed that the company plans to expand the service to the city of Beira this year, as well as increasing the number of routes in Maputo.
