On her trip to Mocímboa da Praia in Cabo Delgado province, Minister for the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries Lídia Cardoso visited the Ponte Cais (commercial port) and examined sector infrastructure belonging to the National Navy Institute (INAMAR), some of which bears marks of the terrorist attacks in the town.

Fishermen and women in Mocímboa district get back on their feet
Sector activity is returning to Mocímboa da Praia, one of Cabo Delgado’s main fishing hubs, and the Ministry of the Sea, Inland Waters and Fisheries is helping with donations of fishing supplies.
During her visit Minister Cardoso, accompanied by Governor Valige Tauabo, on Friday (10-10) delivered 10 fishing kits consisting of 80 fishing nets, 6,000 floats, 20 signal buoys, 100 coils of rope and 20 200-litre cooler boxes.
The gesture is certain to boost fishing in Mocímboa and help rebuild the fortunes of fishermen and their families after the long hiatus brought about by terrorist activities.
Professing themselves well content, the beneficiaries praised the government’s effort, promising to return to work with all possible enthusiasm.
