The National Migration Service has registered an unusual number of domestic and foreign users seeking various services.
Due to the flow of people, the institution said from this Friday until Saturday of next week, SENAMI will operate until 17:30 hours.
“During the visit to the National Migration Service by the Minister of the Interior, on 27 December, the opening hours of the Public Sector of the Provincial Directorate of Migration of Maputo City were extended, starting from 07h30 to 17h30 from 28/12/2018 to 05/01/2019. The measure aims to respond to the high flow of citizens who travel for these services to request travel documents,” says Celestino Matsinhe, a spokesman for SENAMI.
He also reported on the migratory movement of the last days, whose peak was recorded on December 22.
“From December 13-26 of the current year, 377,696 (people) crossed the National Crossing Stations, 230,173 of which were entered and 147,523 departed, compared to 367,809 in the same period last year, representing an increase of two per cent. It should be noted that the Provinces of Maputo, Tete, Manica and Maputo City are the ones with the highest migratory flow,” Matsinhe said.
