The European Union Training Mission Mozambique (EUTM-MOZ) Deputy Mission Force Commander, Colonel Pertti Kelloniemi, welcomed a delegation of Members of the Finnish Parliament, to the Independent Marine Company in Katembe, the 25 November 2022.
The delegation included the Ambassador of Finland H.E. Ms. Anna-Kaisa Heikkinen, representatives of the Political Parties of Finland and facilitating specialists of the framework organization called DEMO Finland.
During the visit to the Independent Marine Company, the delegation was briefed on the EUTM-MOZ mission and contribution to the capacity building of the Mozambican armed forces’ units, selected to compose future Quick Reaction Forces (QRF), and also had the opportunity to tour the camp and observe where the training activities take place.
Political Parties of Finland for Democracy – Demo Finland is a co-operative organization of Finnish parliamentary parties that supports democracy by carrying out and facilitating collaborative projects between Finnish political parties and parties in new and developing democracies. Demo Finland is also Finland’s leading expert and advocacy organization on democracy support. Demo Finland is not ideologically, religiously, or politically tied to any particular movement.
The EUTM-MOZ primary task is to support a more efficient and effective response by the Mozambican armed forces to the crisis in Cabo Delgado in compliance with human rights law and international humanitarian law. Finland is one of the twelve troop contributing nations to EUTM-MOZ.
