Mozambique: Chapo arrives in Zanzibar for final leg of Tanzania visit
Julião Nahemo Basilio, vice president of the Gurué’s Municipal Assembly and Erneo Armando Malanha, Councillor for Health in the MDM-led city council of Gurué have been sentenced to two years in jail for forging grade 12 grade certificates to ‘reach power’, according to the Diario da Zambezia .
After investigating the complaints and analyzing the whole process, the Gurué district judicial court decided to sentence the pair to two years in prison for fraud and forgery.
The two officials had completed only grade 10 schooling but fraudulently obtained grade 12 certificates in order to secure official posts, the court ruled. The sentence was read on Wednesday 4 May by judge Alde Passarera.
The Diário da zambézia report does not specify where in the Electoral legislation are grade 12 certificates a pre-condition to become a municipality official and “reach power”.
