The MDM candidate for the position of governor of Maputo province, Fátima Mimbire, says that electoral management bodies should refrain from interfering negatively in electoral processes, urging them to respect the will of the people.
Interacting with residents in Kongolote neighbourhood, Matola municipality, Mimbire said:
“The voters guarantee that they will vote for the MDM, but then they question how their vote will be protected because there is fraud. We will win the elections, because the electorate guarantees us that. Now, there is the problem of electoral management bodies that do not respect the will of the people. STAE and CNE must respect the will of the people. It must be different from what happened in the past, the will of the people must be respected.”
The electorate urged Fátima Mimbire to “protect [their] vote”.
According to Mimbire, the people she contacted also raised questions and concerns regarding illicit charges in hospitals.
The MDM gubernatorial candidate for Maputo province now continues her work canvassing for votes in various parts of Matola municipality, where interpersonal contact has so far been her main strategy.
