President of Maputo City Council, David Simango, is to make a working visit to Chengdu municipality in China and the cities of Tokyo and Yokohama in Japan from 9 to 18 May.
The purpose of the visit is to participate in a forum for the presidents of municipal councils cities twinned with Chengdu and attend meetings to verify the proposals for urban transport solutions presented by Japan.
In Japan, David Simango will have meetings with the ministries of foreign affairs, economy, trade and industry, land, infrastructure, transportation and tourism, the International Cooperation Agency, and Japan’s International Transportation Consultants.
As a result of the recent international seminar on solid waste management in Maputo and the preparatory meeting for African Clean Cities platform, the Maputo municipal government intends holding a working meeting with the Minister of State and Environment of Japan, Mr. Tadahiko Ito.
Mayor Simango will also visits a Giant Panda research centre, an exhibition of innovation and entrepreneurship, the AGT transport system, the Mitsubishi headquarters and the city of Yokohama.
The mayor will be accompanied to Japan by the councillors for infrastructure and economic activities, while to Japan he will be accompanied by the councillor for transport and traffic and the director of the Transport Fund in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
