It is now almost four years that the judicial court of Quelimane has failed to give a coherent pronouncement on the death of young Mozambican musician Jaime Paulo, known in the artistic world as Max-Love, his supporters and relatives claim.
Max-Love was shot in the head on 21 November, 2013, by an agent of the police VIP protection unit in front of the official residence of the governor of Zambezia while celebrating the victory of the MDM’s Manuel de Araújo in mayoral elections.
Reliable sources have reportedly told local weekly Txopela that the process was still “shelved” within the institution and that no firm steps had been taken to determine the facts or punish those responsible for the ‘aggravated murder’.
The case is registered under case number 55/2014, and the accused is named. It is also known that there is video evidence, and photographs submitted to the court show the time of the gunshots and the alleged offender.
