Residents in the Matola Gare and Siduava neighbourhoods are protesting at alleged land usurpation and assault by the military.
Residents claim to be the victim of land grabs, accusing the military of taking land they use for farming. Neighbourhood representatives in Matola Gare and Siduava say they have already referred the case to the authorities.
Confusion over this case reignited during last week as residents tried to stop the military from removing sand from the place. They in turn “used force to disperse the protesters”, O País reports.
Matola municipality and those responsible for the military barracks involved in the case have promised statements on the matter this week.
