Mozambican short-film 'Vandals' premieres in Maputo with two sold-out sessions

Renowned Mozambican musician João Domingos died on Saturday 10 September 10 in London at the age of 83.
Sources close to his family say he had been hospitalized in London recently after suffering a stroke.
The singer and guitarist born, in Inharrime in Inhambane province on May 13, 1933, began his career as a percussionist, and 1956 he created the Hoola Hop trio in Lourenço Marques, now Maputo, later to become the legendary Conjunto João Domingos, with Gonzana and Young Issufo.
Along with Djambu and Harmony, his group was responsible for the popularisation of marrabenta, Mozambique most recognised musical genre internationally.
Conjunto João Domingos became popular with songs like ‘Ma Wacu’, ‘Mwana’, ‘Elisa Gomara Saia’, ‘Massoriana’, ‘Tampa Ya Xicandarinha”
Domingos was also a football player with Sao Jose, Munhauanense, Azar, 1º de Maio and Atlético, and numbered basketball, fishing and painting among his pursuits.
